DIY: Disney Enamel Trading Pin Display Board

This post highlights a project my 10-year-old son was able to do by himself. This DIY Disney trading pin display board will allow you to display all your favorite Disney enamel trading pins!!

Do you or your kids love Disney enamel trading pins? My son really started enjoying them around age 9 and has accumulated quite a few. He likes to get them as souvenirs, he has traded with other kids on our Disney cruises, traded with cast members in Disney, and traded with officers on board the Disney cruise! 

We have basically kept the pins in a plastic baggie in a dresser drawer for a LONG time. We considered a Disney pin trading folder, but honestly, we don’t have THAT many pins. Plus, he wants to be able to see his collection in full. 

On the Disney cruise, many people will put up cork boards to display pins and allow for free-for-all trading! My son LOVED the corkboard idea (and, yes, traded with one board down the hall with us on an almost daily basis – he couldn’t wait to see the new pins every day).

We had planned to get a cork board and allow him to use it to display them. I just couldn’t find a corkboard I liked. 

Then, my husband found this burlap canvas. And it was PERFECT. Not only could he put the pins in it, but then, unlike the corkboard, it allowed him to keep the backs on them as well!

What You Need for This DIY Disney Trading Pin Project

• a burlap canvas
• your Disney trading pins
• a hanger if you wish to hang the canvas on the wall

I let my son just put the pins on the burlap in the way he desired. (Yes, it was hard for me not be a control freak and rearrange them in a way that I felt was pleasing and not clustered together!)

He loved every minute of it and had a lot of fun sorting through his pins and remembering where he got them! 

We haven’t hung it on the wall just yet, but planning to very soon. I think I’m going to use a command hook to hang it because it’s very light and should hang on it easily without doing a lot of wall damage.
