Once you’ve decided to start planning, you first need to pick the perfect planner for you!! Picking the planner that suits your needs and lifestyle helps ensure you continue to make use of it and enjoy it!
I love the variety of planners there are out there. There is a planner for everyone and everything. This huge variety allows you to pinpoint the exact style that fits you and your needs.
How Do I Choose the Right Planner?
To find the planner best suited for you, decide how you’ll be using the planner first.
- Will the planner fit your lifestyle?
- How often do you plan – is it monthly or daily?
- Do you plan to use it for your work, daily life, school?
- Do you want a generic everyday calendar or a very specific type of planner?
There are just a small sampling of things to ask yourself when trying to pick the perfect planner.
What are the different types of planners?
- Daily Planners

Other Examples of Types of Planners:

Choose the Size of Planner You Desire
Planners come in all shapes and sizes. Once you decide what you’ll be using your planner for, decide on the size.
- Is this a planner that needs to sit on your desk, slip in your purse, or stay in your backpack?
- Do you prefer to write in larger boxes or are you ok to write into smaller spaces?
Different Sizes of Planners:
- Pocket size
- A5
- A4
- Medium (This is the Erin Condren LifePlanner size I have, which is 7×9)
- Personal
- Half-Letter
- US Letter

Decide How You Want the Planner Bound
When I started planning, I didn’t think this would matter, but to me it certainly does. There are spiral bound planners, disc bound planners, book bound, and more. Personally, I prefer a spiral bound planner. I love that the spiral bound just feel so much smoother when flipping the pages. It may just take you trial and error to find your own personal favorite type of binding.
Choose a Planner to Fit Your Personality
Your planner won’t work for you if you don’t use it. A way to ensure you will use the planner is to get one to fit your personality. Do you love bright and bold with splashes of color? Do you like a minimal amount of decor? Do you want a hard cover or soft planner? Get a planner you’ll want to use!!
Experiment with Different Planners
Try different planners and be willing to experiment! I have tried sooo many planners, of different sizes and brands, and I have finally settled on the one I love most! You are sure to find one that is perfect for you too!
Ensure You Use Your Planner
Once you pick the perfect planner, it’s not that perfect if you don’t use it! Here are some ways to ensure you use it:
- enjoy decorating it with different stickers
- use your favorite writing utensils: markers, pens, whatever you love using
- keep it close by – you will use it if it’s at your fingertips. I tend to keep mine on my desk since it’s mostly for work. However, you can keep it in your tote, backpack, on your desk, or on your coffee table – wherever you will reach for it!
I hope you are able to find the most perfect planner for you. Happy planning!
