PEEP Nest Easter Cookies

These PEEP Nest Easter cookies are super simple and sure to please your kids! It’s a great way to get them involved in the kitchen with these delightful Easter cookies!

I wanted to do some sort of Easter craft with my son.  I had been brainstorming and brainstorming until I saw a PEEPS ad somewhere in my Instagram feed of something similar to this.  So, first things first, this idea is totally taken from that!

However, it made a fantastic project for us and a tasty one as well.  These PEEP Nest Easter Cookies were super fun to make and a huge hit when we took them to share at the Scout cookout.

PEEP Nest Easter Cookies

I started with basic refrigerated sugar cookie dough.  You know the kind – you literally just break them off and set them on your baking sheet.  

I baked all the sugar cookies.  While they were baking, I mixed up a batch of buttercream frosting and tinted it a light Easter blue.  

For assembly, I would pipe a ring of the buttercream frosting on to the sugar cookie.  I didn’t try to make it fancy or accurate.  The ring was basically a nest for our eggs.

Once I piped the buttercream “nest” on to the sugar cookie, I let my son place three Robin Egg candies (malted milk type candy that looks like eggs) into the nest.  

He then topped the nest with a peep.

 

You can really make these your own.  Use any variety of cookies, any color of buttercream, get fancy with your piping tip, and use any color peep!  Let your kids pick what they do and how they make them!  They will have a blast making these, I know my son did!
