The Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina is one of my favorite places to visit. It’s breathtaking inside and out.
I had not seen it for Christmas, though, until last year. My husband and son surprised me with a trip to Biltmore a week before Christmas!
Experiencing the Biltmore Estate at Christmas was not disappointing! I want to share with you just a few of the multitude of things you can do at the Biltmore Estate!
5 Things to Do at the Biltmore Estate at Christmas
Audio-guided tour through the estate.
As you tour the estate, you will also get to see more than 55 Christmas trees, thousands of ornaments, and gorgeous Christmas decor.
The audio-guided tours are 90 minutes and have two options – one for the adults and one for the kids!
My son LOVED his self-guided tour by none other than Cedric the dog, the beloved dog of the Vanderbilts. (We ended up with a stuffed animal version of Cedric from one of the shops, and now he’s our beloved dog!)
Visit the gardens and grounds of the Biltmore Estate, even in the winter.
As you stroll through the garden, you will enter the conservatory with gorgeous poinsettias everywhere. You will enjoy strolling through the warm interior surrounded by greenery.
Tour Antler Hill Village & Winery.
Enjoy a complimentary wine tasting, and don’t forget to buy your own bottles of your favorites. (When we were there at Christmas, the artist who designed that year’s label for the Christmas wines was signing bottles.)
You can also go to the Biltmore Legacy to learn more about the Vanderbilts. Kids love Antler Village, where they can play games, visit farm animals, and view craft demonstrations.
Shop at Antler Village.
The Barn Door offers arts and crafts items, and is one of my favorite stores to browse! They also have Antler Hill Outfitters, Traditions, and the Wine Shop.
There is also shopping available at the Biltmore House. We bought my son’s Cedric stuffed animal in the Toymaker’s shop. I also never miss A Christmas Past shop, even when it’s not Christmas. We have several ornaments purchased there.
Pick a place to enjoy estate dining.
There will be something for everyone and plenty to chose from when it comes to the dining options at Biltmore Estate. I’ve eaten at several of them over the years.
When we went with our son, we ate at the Stable Cafe, which was originally the horse stable. They have converted the stalls into booths.
(If you want to splurge and you are without the kids, I would highly recommend The Dining Room. It has beautiful views of the estate, all while you eat gourmet food on fine china and drink from the crystal. You will feel like a Vanderbilt!)
Other places we’ve eaten are Cedric’s Tavern, which is casual and pub food and the Libary Lounge, which is gourmet salads and sandwiches.
